A few of my favorite quotes:

“Don't eat anything your great-grandmother wouldn't recognize as food.”
― Michael Pollan

"It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver"

-- Mahatma Gandhi
Here are some frequently asked questions that may help you to understand how I, as a nutritionist, work:

1. How am I different from a dietician?

Holistic nutritionists and dieticians are two different certifications that often get confused. To clarify, a dietician is someone who has a certification through an accredited university and likely follows the Canada Food Guide. A holistic nutritionist (like myself) can be certified by private institutions and goes under the title of CNP (Certified Nutritional Practitioner) or RHN (Registered Holistic Nutritionist). Through the Edison Institute of Nutrition, I have completed their Practitioner and Advanced Diploma Programs which included over 50 different courses and approximately 5 years of studies. I submitted and completed a thesis on "Preventive Heart Health Measures for Women: Dietary and Lifestyle Suggestions" as part of the program. I also studied with the American Council of Exercise and held a "Lifestyle and Weight Management Certification."

As the term 'holistic' suggests, as a RHN, I will assess individuals, taking into account many mind-body factors, personal to the individual. Each person is unique and different in what they require to keep them healthy and in balance.

2. Why work with me?

I am extremely empathetic and gentle in my approach. I believe that in order to establish an atmosphere of healing, trust must be established. My intent is always to listen with an open heart, keen to understand and help you start to unravel the conditioning that may have been part of your current discomfort. Between the two of us, we can work together to help your body relax into a more balanced state of well-being.

If you are suffering from any of the following, these come under the umbrella of a nutritionist's care, please consider reaching out to me:
  • depression and/or anxiety
  • food sensitivities
  • food cravings
  • allergies
  • general fatigue
  • adrenal exhaustion
  • weight issues
  • menopause issues (peri or post)
  • autoimmune disorders
  • stress management
  • digestive problems
  • sleep issues
  • cancer
  • diabetes
  • cardiovascular disease
  • boredom with food
  • confusion with food

3. How long will it take before I feel better?
It depends on a number of factors: the condition we are working with; how long you have been suffering from it; what your current stress levels are - to name just a few. Sometimes, psychologically, you may start to feel a bit better right away, just from receiving support and working in a healing relationship. Generally, there is not one answer to this question since everyone is unique and different. It all depends on how quickly your body will start to respond to the new healthy changes we introduce. You may start to feel some relief anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of months.
