I happened on this recipe through Pinterest - feeling a bit lazy, I decided I didn't want to make it exactly like they called for. So here's a cheater's version of this original recipe. It's not too sweet, contains no flour, some oats (although less than what they called for) and a whole lotta other tasty ingredients. I enjoyed a piece of this with my breakfast but it also could be a quick pick-me-up in the afternoon around 3:00 pm with a hot cuppa.
See what you think...
What the?? Ok, I got your attention - and my acronym DBG stands for 'dairy be gone.' Now before I go any further, I don't want you to get the wrong idea about me. I really don't mean to sound as if I am prejudiced against dairy... But the fact of the matter is that many people just do not fare well with this ingredient in their diet. You may or may not be able to relate. Perhaps you are one of those people, like myself, that can handle some dairy, still love it, but know that there is a line, that once crossed, your system holds you hostage. By hostage I mean you are lactose-intolerant and experience various symptoms of mild discomfort ranging from an annoying runny nose, constipation, bloating... perhaps you get my gist.
Okay, so I have been talking about sweetness this week. In case you missed it, a few days ago I posted a recipe for Chocolate Oat Squares - quick and easy to put together and throw in the oven. Many of us can still confess to a sweet tooth. Nothing wrong with that if it is kept in a healthy perspective. Like anything in life, it's about knowledge and control - this gives us the power to make wise choices (in many arenas of life).
