In Native American culture, a hummingbird symbolizes timeless joy and the Nectar of Life. Isn’t this a beautiful photo of the hummingbird busy extracting its Nectar of Life? And, isn't this what we all hope for in our daily consumption of food - to find the perfect nutrients that will help us experience joy and help us thrive?
I can only speak for myself when I say I want to feel my very best so that I am able to function optimally and happily in my life. I’m guessing if you are reading this post that is your desire as well. And yet, there are increasing statistics of disease, chronic illness and obesity in our daily headlines. Concerns about food sources and quality of nutrients are rampant and people are confused by what to eat and drink.
Our lives are intended to be characterized by joy, resilience and strength. But if we are suffering from sore joints, poor digestion, low immunity or ailments which will not heal, we are hardly in a position to feel strong and able to achieve our best. Aches and pains, mental fog, depression, autoimmune diseases, allergies or digestive disorders are but a few of the many, many symptoms we experience when we are out of balance and not eating the proper foods and nutrients specific to our body. What all of these illnesses and symptoms have in common is their ability to take away from the enjoyment of our lives. Our spirits become discouraged and despondent when we are in constant pain and discomfort.
I would like instead, to envision a world where each one of us might experience the pleasure and lightness that this delicate hummingbird represents. Life is supposed to be a wonderful, beautiful experience. The human body has got to be one of the most amazing creations we will ever encounter in our lifetime. Why not start to tap into the wisdom of it and learn how to support and work with its natural rhythms? With loving care and attention, the body may amaze you with its resilience and strength. Each one of us has the ability to nurture ourselves and thrive.
Make that decision today to love and care for oneself and you may be surprised by what a few changes in diet and lifestyle can do for you. I encourage and support you in your quest for a satisfying, healthy and peaceful life.
